SURVEY SAYS OLD NEWS IS GOOD NEWS" -- NOSTALGIA STILL LINGERS IN A HIGH TECH WORLD

Most of us read the news every day, but how we each choose to read it is very different.

(PRWEB) November 11, 2003 --Most of us read the news every day, but how we each choose to read it is very different.

At the recent Small Business Expo held at Plymouth Memorial Hall in Plymouth, MA over 150 exhibitors and guests were surveyed PR Works, one of the sponsors of the Small Business Expo and a full service public relations firm based in Norwell, Mass.

The survey asked three simple questions. Do you read on-line news" every day? Do you read the newspaper every day? Why would you BUY a newspaper, if news is FREE on-line? The results were surprising.

While over 50% said they read news on-line every day, the surprising part was that in such a high tech world over 95% of those participants also read the newspaper every day. Why is this?

Something about the newspaper in hand, the nostalgia of reading a newspaper over a cup of coffee is a relaxing pastime for most. Perhaps because we live in such a high tech world is the reason. Most people spend a majority of their work day glued to a computer screen and cherish the few moments they can spend flipping through an old fashion newspaper.

Other reasons for preferring the newspaper included: habit", newspaper is more portable", the advertisements", enjoy local news", and not comfortable with the internet".

The Small Business Expo was sponsored by Radisson Hotel Plymouth Harbor, PR Works, Mariner Newspapers, American Computer Technologies, Community WISP, Inc., and a wide range of individual town Chambers of Commerce including Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate and Hull/Nantasket. The Small Business Expo provided a vibrant sales environment for local companies who are facing challenging economic times. Over 60 exhibitors participated and hundreds attended.

Another Small Business Expo is scheduled for May 5 and will again be held at Plymouth Memorial Hall and by the same sponsors.
