U.S. Immigration forums for Trinidad & Tobago
New York, New York: Crime and its impact on the Caribbean region will be the main topic of discussion when New York-based Caribbean Immigrant Services directors, Irwine Clare and Winston Tucker, Esq., tour Trinidad & Tobago on Tuesday, 11th November.
A public forum will be held on Friday, 14th November, at 6:30 p.m. at the Seaman's Workers Union in Port-of-Spain. Other forums are slated for Arima and San Fernando, on Saturday, November 15th, and for Tobago, on Sunday, November 16th. Venues will be announced closer to the weekend.
Clare says the forums are part of CIS' annual Caribbean tours to bring nationals and government in the region up to date on the U.S. immigration laws. He says its particularly important now, in light of the post 9/11 era and the U.S.' continued emphasis in stamping out terror through it's Homeland Security Unit and the Patriot Act.
The CIS director says they will also be available to meet with any governmental or public official on the laws as well as to help Trinidadians process applications for the annual 'green card' lottery, which can only be entered electronically this year.
The forums in Trinidad and Tobago are made possible through the Transit Workers Union, Local 100, of New York, Caribbean Outpost, and several other local organizations.
