Security Company Announces "Holiday Safety Awareness Program" Targeted to Human Resource Professionals
The likelihood of being victimized increases as the holidays draw near. But, Secure Defense Systems offers a program that will help those in your organization recognize the risks and minimize the chances that their holiday will be spoiled by being victimized.
Springfield, NJ and Philadelphia, PA -- November 13, 2003 - According to Secure Defense System Vice-President Rich Cordivari, All too often, the joy of the holiday season is tarnished because people find themselves the victims of theft, vandalism or worse. In sixty to ninety minutes, our company can teach the smallest or largest group of employees how to avoid becoming a victim during the Holiday Season". Cordivari suggests considering the following issues for those concerned about their safety:
Parking Lots
As the holidays approach, people will be spending more time than usual shopping for gifts. Unfortunately, there are countless ways to get in trouble in parking lots. In short, you want to choose a spot that will optimize your safety and provide convenient access to the place you are visiting.
Structured Parking (Garages and Decks)
Structured Parking may be dark and contain all sorts of built-in hiding places (pillars, stairwells, other vehicles). Personal safety requires an understanding of the steps to selecting a safe parking spot, and recognizing how to safely leave and return to a vehicle.
Parking areas with valet services are also an attractive option, but be sure to leave only your ignition key
Common Sense
Alan Breindel, President of Secure Defense Systems, stresses that there is no substitute for common sense when it comes to safety and security. According to Breindel, Whenever possible, try to shop with a friend or family member. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that will not hinder an escape. Sneakers are best, but definitely avoid high heels. It is also a good idea to keep a police whistle on your key chain and do not be embarrassed to use it."
Corporate Concerns
Cordivari cautions that Theft and Robbery are crimes of opportunity, and that thieves and criminals view the Holiday Season as an ideal opportunity to profit. Increased vigilance is a necessity at the office in order to protect everything from personal property to confidential company information. And dont forget about safety at ATM machines and in crowded places where pickpockets are looking for the easy victims.
Dont Look Like a Victim
Dont look like a victim, says Cordivari. It stands to reason that thieves are looking for the person who will offer the least resistance". Regardless of your size, age or sex, you can develop an approach to body language that tells anyone watching you: I am not a victim."
Criminals know who their victims are at a glance. Its their job. Your job is to make them doubt the wisdom of choosing you.
