Seniors Enrolled in Seniorlink Select Save 29% on Prescriptions

Introduced in September 2002, the Seniorlink Select discount program has produced significant savings on prescription medications for seniors struggling to fill the gaps in Medicare coverage. With Congress unlikely to reach a compromise on a satisfactory prescription drug benefit, the Seniorlink Select program continues to expand.

Boston, Mass. (PRWEB) November 11, 2003 -- Since it was introduced just over one year ago, Seniorlink Select-a membership program for seniors that offers discounts on prescription drugs and other health-related products and services-has filled thousands of prescriptions, saving members an impressive $16 per script, or 29.2 percent, on average.

In addition to generous prescription coverage, Seniorlink Select members receive discounts of up to 50 percent on an array of senior-related goods, including dental, vision and chiropractic care; hearing products; extended care, home care and nursing home care; home medical equipment; and vitamins.

With a prescription drug benefit still under negotiation in Congress-and any compromise likely to be unsatisfactory to elder advocates-the Seniorlink Select program is critical for seniors struggling to pay for essential medications. Seniorlink Select was designed specifically to include many products and services that Medicare and long-term care insurance do not cover.

Seniorlink, a leading national provider of eldercare management services for seniors, family caregivers and employers, sponsors the program. Seniorlink is dedicated to promoting seniors independence and quality of life," said Robert F. Brooks, President and CEO of Seniorlink. This program is one way we do that-by offering older adults an affordable means of managing their health issues and securing medical and living assistance when needed. We are extremely proud of the savings weve been able to provide to our members over the past year."

More than 80,000 providers nationwide, including most major pharmacy chains, participate in Seniorlink Select. It can be used alone or in conjunction with Medicare or HMO insurance. To join, members pay $59.95 per year or $5.95 per month. There are no eligibility requirements. One membership covers all persons in the same household.

Most seniors fill multiple prescriptions at once, saving more than the annual cost of the Seniorlink Select card within a single month," explains Brooks. A household that fills four prescriptions each month, for example, saves $64 per month, or $750 per year.
