(PRWEB) November 12, 2003 --Interlink Networks, a leading developer of network security and access control software, today announced that its RAD-Series AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) RADIUS servers were chosen by Villanova University to provide the key security and user authentication functions in its newly implemented wireless LAN system. The system includes 208 wireless access points spread throughout several buildings on campus, and now conforms to the strong, standards-based WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access) specification with the inclusion of Interlinks RAD-Series RADIUS server.
The IT staff at Villanova University developed a comparison chart of authentication solutions by vendor, which included their security level, open standards compliance, database support, and licensing and server costs. Villanova again chose Interlink Networks as their RADIUS supplier of choice, and upgraded their servers to include 802.11 wireless LAN security. WPA security will provide Villanovas wireless LAN users with the confidence that their data will remain protected and that only authorized users can access the network.
We have been using Interlink Networks as our RADIUS vendor for many years," said John Center, wireless project manager at Villanova University. As our needs have grown in complexity with changing technologies -- first with dial-up access and now with wireless LAN -- their products have kept pace and proved to be an excellent value. With each new challenge, the flexibility of the software and attentiveness of the support staff has allowed us to meet our objectives in a timely and efficient manner."
The scalability of our servers architecture is perfect for innovative universities like Villanova that are striving to deliver secure and flexible learning environments," said Randy Dence, VP of Product Management at Interlink Networks.
Interlink Networks RAD-Series RADIUS server software provides Layer 2 security and strong 802.1x authentication to safeguard all network access -- whether by 802.11 wireless LAN, mobile, or traditional wired connections. Villanova University has made good use of the servers customization capabilities by writing fairly elaborate authorization policies that allow them to independently grant user access to wireless, dial-up and terminal services.
Priced from $4,000, the RAD-Series RADIUS servers are based on open-standards, proven technology that is currently authenticating millions of users in public and private networks across the world.
