(Indianapolis, IND November 10, 2003)--Cmmunity Health Network (CHN) was recognized for its commitment to ehealth and its innovations in connecting consumers to health care information via the Internet during the 2003 eHealthcare Leadership Awards Dinner on October 26 in Phoenix. Sponsored by Chicago-based Forum for Healthcare Strategies, the awards dinner was the opening night event of the 2003 Healthcare Internet & Technology Conference. Nearly 1,200 organizations from around the nation vied for the awards.

CHN won for both its web site and its commitment to ehealth. In the Healthcare System category, eCommunity.com won Best Interactive Site, Best eBusiness Web Site, Best Overall Internet Site, Best Healthcare Web Site Content, and Best Interactive Web Site. The Network, itself, garnered a top honor by winning the CEO eHealth Commitment Award given to the health care system that best leads the nation in developing and implementing successful ehealth initiatives.

We are providing ways for our patients, consumers, physicians and employees to interact with Community and gain access to our services via ehealth strategies," said Dan Rench, Network Director of eBusiness. We wanted to make sure citizens in our community had several options when making health care decisions and

www.eCommunity.com provides another connection to health care professionals and
another source for information about procedures and illnesses. We are constantly looking for ways to put useful tools in the hands of consumers. Access to healthcare is beyond the physical walls of our facilities and we are using ehealth initiatives to be available to our customers when they want to be in touch with us."

According to Mark Gothberg, eHealthcare Leadership Awards chairman, ehealth is becoming a growing trend. One clear trend is that leading healthcare organizations are placing increasing focus on e-business. While the Web is an important communications medium, it is now viewed as a key vehicle in helping the organization achieve business objectives."

CHN was the first health care system in Indiana to offer live chats with nurses, live web cast of an assisted-fertility procedure, and on-line nurse recruitment. In addition, at www.eCommunity,com, consumers can pre-register for their hospital procedures, send greetings to CHN patients at the online gift shop, make donations to the CHN Foundation, access the new media ehealth library, and have online interactions with human resource recruiter specialists...

Ranked among the top 20 integrated health care networks in the nation, Community Health Network includes Community Hospital Anderson, East, North and South; The Indiana Heart Hospital, a dedicated heart hospital; MedCheck urgent care centers; Indiana Surgery Centers, more than 50 primary care physician practices; home health services; nursing homes; and other health care facilities in central Indiana.
