PST TAKES THE HUMBUG OUT OF THE HOLIDAYS

PST to present its annual staged concert version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on December 11, 2003

NEW YORK, NY November 11, 2003 --
On December 11th, Personal Space Theatrics transports you and your entire family to the London of 1843, where the truly despicable, money-obsessed Scrooge, the struggling Cratchits, the boisterous Fezziwigs and four eerie Christmas Ghosts await you, your heart and your imagination. A cast of 40 actors and singers relate Charles Dickens powerful holiday tale of human redemption in our annual staged concert version of A Christmas Carol. Adapted by Artistic Director Stephen Wargo and complete with a multitude of classic holiday songs seamlessly woven into Dickens words; this production brings audiences to their feet with a simple mixture of music, comedy, thrills and messages of hope, peace on earth and goodwill to men.
Why is this one story so popular?" asks Artistic Director Stephen Wargo. Why do people return to it year after year? My inner cynic says they like the comfort of the same story time after time, season after season. But when you hear Dickens words flowing straight from his pen into your mind and your heart, the cynic shuts up. When I wrote the adaptation, keeping Dickens story fully intact, I strove to give it the weight, grandeur and soul searching intensity of the classical Greek drama. There is a chorus that engages the audience and moves the action forward. The songs comment on the action and underscore the events of the play. The concert staging -- open, raw and in direct communication with the audience has the echoes of theater at its earliest roots."
Join us on December 11 at 7:30 PM at Covenant House, 346 West 17th Street in New York City for a one of a kind" A Christmas Carol that celebrates the possibilities of the season and the potential of the human spirit.

Personal Space Theatrics was founded with the guiding principle that Theatre was created for audiences. We envision a new environment of play-going, one where actors, audiences and plays themselves meet together in the same literal space without the conventional dual constructs of a stage.
