OOOH Baby, SFs Hottest Indie Artists Establish TourBaby: A National Tour of the Best Local Music
San Francisco (November 11, 2003) -- TourBaby , a national tour of local artists and a baby doll, stops in San Francisco on Friday, November 21st 2003 at Red Devil Lounge, courtesy of Jay Siegan Presents and Motogirl Productions. The performing artists will be Alma Melodiosa, Ama, essence, Austin Willacy, Mokai, and Brother Luck.
These are some of the hottest independent artists in the area, banding together to raise awareness of independent music....and musicians who refuse to be limited by just one style. The evening will feature a tasty mix of rock, pop, soul, latin-jam and eclectic groove. Tickets for this event are $5 in advance online through inhousetickets.com or $7 at the door, and the event is free before 9 PM. For information, directions, or to hear MP3s of every artist performing, go to www.tourbaby.com.
A new kind of tour is coming through San Francisco - a concert put on by some of the best independent musicians in the area. Last year, the "TourBaby" crossed 42 cities in four months. This year, the TourBaby's journey begins anew with shows scheduled across the country. Each show will feature top local artists, including bands "tagging" from city to city, instead of a single touring lineup.
Why the unique approach? Hundreds of musicians are banding together to raise awareness of independent music: the music you don't hear on mainstream TV or radio.
TourBaby aims to highlight the top local bands and introduce these musicians to a broader cross-section of the communities.
"We're out to call attention to all the great music that's right under your nose in your local community," is how the organizers of TourBaby see it.
"TourBaby is an intimate connection between artist and fans," said founding member Dave Mann. "It's a grassroots co-operative effort created entirely by musicians. The local artists in each community organize each TourBaby concert. Most of us met through CD Baby, a popular online record store for independent artists."
TourBaby hits San Francisco on Friday, November 21st 2003 at Red Devil Lounge. The performing artists will be Mokai, essence, Alma Melodiosa, Austin Willacy, Ama and Brother Luck.
"These are some of the hottest independent artists in the area, representing a current trend in the local music scene: songwriters who mix styles from a wide palette of genres and sing passionately from the heart. These artists will surprise you with music that is hard to classify, but easy to love," says the show's organizer, Stacey De Polo.
