Jacksonville, Fla. (Nov. 12, 2003)-- The North Florida Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Jacksonville Chapter of Florida Public Relations Association have partnered with the Jacksonville Public Library system to create a public relations resource center containing a comprehensive collection of trade books and publications. An inaugural collection of books will be presented to library officials on Thursday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. during a brief ceremony in the librarys main branch.
We are always happy to accept specialized materials for the Main Library that will be beneficial to our library customers," said Carolyn Williams, Deputy Director of the Jacksonville Public Library.
The books will be housed in the Business, Science and Documents reference section of the Main Library and made available to the general public as well as chapter members. More than ten books and publications will be included in the collection initially and members of both chapters will be encouraged to contribute.
Among the books in the new public relations resource center will be the recommended study materials for the Accreditation in Public Relations exam. Accreditation is a voluntary certification program that offers recognition for public relations professionals who have demonstrated broad knowledge, experience, and professional judgment in the public relations field.
In addition to donations from the local PRSA/FPRA chapters, PRSAs national office will donate subscriptions to its monthly newspaper, Tactics, and its quarterly magazine, The Public Relations Strategist. The Jacksonville Public Library has also incorporated PRWeek, a weekly public relations trade magazine, into its collection of periodicals.
With these additions to the library, we are hopeful that these public relations resources will continue to enhance the profession of public relations in the Jacksonville area," said Anne M.Dubois, APR, CPRC, president of the North Florida Chapter of PRSA.
