MONEY MAKEOVER FOR WOMEN IN SCOTLAND
FINANCIAL WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN IN SCOTLAND HAPPENING END OF JANUARY 2004.
NEW YEAR! NEW FINANCIAL YOU!
Calling all Scotswomen! Do you wonder where your money goes every month? Do you find yourself regularly in debt even though you don't seem to spend much? Is one of your New Year resolutions to get a handle on your money - but you find it all too boring and confusing to bear?
Then our financial workshop for women is for you. The workshop, called Taking Control of Your Money, will be given by financial expert and stand-up comedian (yes really!) Jasmine Birtles, co-author of 'A Girl's Best Friend Is Her Money' (Boxtree 12.99), aided and abetted by Motley Fool writer Cliff DArcy.
There will be two workshops in Scotland: one in Glasgow on Monday 26th January 2004 and the second in Edinburgh on Tuesday 27th January 2004.
The workshop is supported by the Motley Fool website (www.fool.co.uk) which has already run three sell-out workshops for women in London, all of which sold out within a week of launching.
"Women are actually very good at dealing with their money once they get the idea," says Birtles, "it's just that we've had so many centuries of being told not to worry 'our pretty little heads' about it that we have a lot of catching up to do. Once women do understand money and investing, though, they actually do better than men."
And women need to understand money now more than ever. Look at the facts:
- Women generally earn about 80% of what men earn
- Women usually give up their careers and earning power (at least for a few years) to care for their children
- The divorce rate is running at 40%, and rising
- Women tend to lose out most from divorce financially
- Women generally outlive men but have much less money invested to pay for their future
- At the moment, 1 in 3 households is a single person and it's estimated that in twenty years' time more than half of the adult population will be living alone. So any woman who's dreaming that her man will look after them in their old age can dream on!
Any woman who attends this workshop will find out how to:
- Take control of her finances and stop them controlling her.
- Learn to get out of debt painlessly and stay out of debt
- Become wealthy without trying too hard
- Have a retirement full of cruises and toy boys instead of cat food and day-centres.
