TTPCom Continues Expansion in Chinese Market
Over 15 million handsets sold in China using TTPCom technology
Cambridge, UK, (PRWEB) November 15, 2003 -- TTPCom Ltd, the worlds leading independent supplier of digital wireless technology, is continuing to expand its operations in the Chinese mobile phone market and has launched a recruitment drive to attract additional skilled software engineers to join its office in Shanghai.
In China TTPCom works with over 10 manufacturers including TCL, ZTE, Soutec and Kejian, and a host of design houses producing handsets on behalf of other companies. TTPComs Korean and Taiwanese customers have also been very active in supplying handsets to the Chinese market. As a result, during 2003, over 15 million handsets using TTPComs software and chip designs have been sold in China.
Wang Yun, General Manager at TTPCom Shanghai commented, TTPComs approach to wireless technology is proving very popular in China. We offer a range of flexible licensing deals which enable customers of varying levels of experience to move quickly into the manufacture of mobile phones and to easily differentiate these products. To give our many customers the full attention needed to achieve a fast time to market, we are recruiting additional technical support engineers for our office in Shanghai."
TTPCom has adopted a unique approach in the wireless industry in which its protocol and application software is compatible with multiple hardware platforms. This approach enables TTPComs customers to select the best chipset based on commercial or technical considerations and to develop differentiated products on this basis. In addition to hardware flexibility TTPCom has focused efforts in recent months on the development of flexible software solutions for low cost handsets, which is particularly important in a competitive market like China.
With over 12 years experience in the development of GSM mobile phone technology we are able to harness the full potential of the phone to deliver exciting applications without the need for additional hardware. This means that our customers can offer a full range of features on low cost handsets that you might expect to find on top of the range models. Our wireless graphics engine for example utilises the full power of the phones processor to deliver an unrivalled gaming experience; our AJAR platform enables customers to customise or brand the phones man machine interface within a matter of hours, and our recently announced MIDI software solution delivers polyphonic sound to the phone without the need for additional MIDI chips," explained Yun.
China is the worlds largest and fastest growing mobile phone market, and whilst this offers significant potential for local manufacturers, TTPComs Chinese customers are turning to export markets in order to achieve the best economies of scale in production. European and North American operators are increasingly receptive to new suppliers.
Tony Milbourn, Managing Director of TTPCom stated, The world is sitting up and taking notice of the Asian manufacturers whose phones are sophisticated, of outstanding quality and are able to compete effectively with handsets from the worlds leading manufacturers. Our Korean and Taiwanese customers are particularly active in exporting their products and similarly, our Chinese customers have ambitions to supply the wider world, either under their own brand names or by manufacturing on behalf of other brand owners. TTPComs strong relations with European operators means that we are well placed to introduce them to new manufacturers."
TTPCom will be exhibiting its latest multiplayer wireless games platform, Smartphone and applications software at the PT Wireless and Networks Comm China exhibition in Beijing from 12th -- 16th November. TTPComs stand number 2H21D is located on the UK Pavilion in Hall 2.
