Promicro & Intel Exhibiting High Performance GRID Computing Solution During SC2003 Conference
Demonstration of GRID Computing Solution Shows the Benefits of Aggregating Computational Resources
Poway, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2003 -- (SC2003 Booth #2825) -- Promicro Systems, a leading provider of high performance (HPC) computing solutions for a wide range of market segments, will continue to champion the advancement and implementation of end-to-end HPC solutions at the 16th Annual SC2003 Conference, by teaming with Intel and NPACI (National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) in demonstrating a scalable, powerful, and functional Grid solution that shows the benefits of sharing and aggregating a variety of computational resources. SC2003 takes place at the Civic Center in Phoenix, Arizona November 17 -- 20th.
Grid technology is driving the next major wave in the computing industry. High Performance Computing users today are leading the adoption of Grid technology by establishing industry standards, creating reference implementations and demonstrating early proof points," said Robert Fogel, senior manager of Grid Strategy and Solutions Development at Intel. Intel is pleased to be working with Promicro to enable underlying grid infrastructure with a broad array of standards-based building blocks."
A Grid computing solution is the aggregate of numerous computing clusters. The Grid being demonstrated at SC2003 will consist of discrete clusters from Intel, Promicro and NPACI. The Intel cluster will consist of Intel® Itanium® 2-based systems connected via Gigabit Ethernet, running Callident Rx Linux cluster distribution. Promicros end of the grid will feature multiple dual Intel® Xeon processor-based servers connected with TopSpin Infiniband network fabric and also using Callident Rx. NPACI will be featuring an Itanium2 cluster connected via Myrinet and using the NPACI ROCKS cluster management suite.
Additionally, Promicro will be hosting an in-booth presentation featuring Glen Otero, Ph.D., president of Callident. Dr. Otero will be addressing Cluster construction, deployment and management using Callident Rx Linux cluster distribution. Although Linux clusters are widely used, they are still difficult to build and manage", said Dr. Otero Callident Rx automates cluster installation and includes all the HPC software a cluster enthusiast needs."
