Forchelli Professor of Law chair at Brooklyn Law School.

Forchelli Professor of Law chair at Brooklyn Law School.

A century after it was founded in a basement in Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn Law School today enrolls 1,500 students in its full-time and part-time programs. Its students are drawn from all over the nation and world, its faculty is comprised of world-class scholars and teachers, and there are over 16,000 alumni of the Law School, leaders in practice, government and major corporations.
Brooklyn Law School Dean Joan G. Wexler has named Professor Neil B. Cohen the Jeffrey D. Forchelli Professor of Law. A member of the faculty since 1985 and a resident of Brooklyn, NY, Cohen is a widely recognized expert in domestic and international commercial law, contracts, and constitutional law. He was the reporter for the American Law Institutes Restatement of the Law of Suretyship and Guaranty, and was named ALIs R. Ammi Cutter Reporter for his work. He is a frequent lecturer as well as author on commercial law issues, and serves as the Director of Research of the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform Commercial Code. He is a regular contributor to Commercial Law Report and New York Law Journal.
Jeffrey D. Forchelli earned his J.D. at Brooklyn Law School in 1969 and founded the FCSMC&C firm in 1976. He concentrates his practice on complex real estate and land use matters, including litigation and tax certiorari, for major real estate developers and national corporations. His client list includes Northrop Grumman Corp. and Cablevision Systems Corp. Today, the firm ranks 13th in size on Long Island and provides comprehensive legal services.
He has served as Counsel to the New York State Assembly and the Legal Advisory Board, as well as Board of Directors for Security Title and Guaranty Company. He is a member of the New York State and Nassau Country Bar Associations, and a Fellow of The New York Bar Foundation. He is consistently named among the Whos Who in Law published by the Long Island Business News and was selected for inclusion in the 8th edition of Whos Who in American Law.
Forchelli and his wife, Sadie, make their home in Lattingtown, NY.
