Euroson America Introduces "Optical First Archive" solution for Fixed Content Data Management
Solution provides True Write Once data storage and high performance access
(PRWEB) November 16, 2003 --Euroson America, Inc. the exclusive distributor of PoINT Software & Systems in North America introduced "Optical First " a new software architecture designed to integrate Write Once Optical Storage with RAID, NAS and SAN technologies to provide high capacity, high performance storage systems to meet the growing demand for fixed content data management.
"In today's world the process of records management includes many new challenges brought forth by increasing regulation and monitoring of corporate and agency data." stated Euroson Sales and Marketing Director Michelle Reu. "Not only is the volume of electronic documents and data continuing to grow at an unprecedented pace, but companies and agencies are also required to maintain these electronic records in a compliant manner, for long periods of time." she added.
According to Kevin Byrne, Euroson Technical Director, over 4000 regulations in the United States include record preservation and retention requirements. Today's IT environments demand solutions which facilitate this compliance by simultaneously delivering on-line access, WORM file attributes, and a reasonable Total Cost of Ownership.
"Optical First Archive with PoINT Software provides the most cost effective and reliable method of meeting these challenges," stated Byrne
"Optical First" integrates an advanced software application in combination with Optical Jukebox Technology and RAID, NAS and SAN storage devices to provide a complete, compliant solution for the most demanding applications. Unlike "traditional" optical library solutions which migrate older data off magnetic storage "Optical First" is designed so that the entire data archive is placed onto the write once optical media first, assuring that all required compliance issues are satisfied.
Optical First's unique "Controlled Mirroring" architecture migrates written data from the optical archive on to magnetic storage, providing clients fast access to the data. Its' unique "Volume Sets" architecture allows an optical library to be logically partitioned and shared exactly as a magnetic storage device. This assures compatibility with virtually any Asset Management software.
"Optical First" uses low cost, highly reliable DVD and UDO media libraries to provide terabytes of capacity at a fraction of the Total Cost of Ownership of similar capacity Magnetic disc based systems.
"Optical First" will be available through select Value Added Distributors, both as a software only solution, as well as in complete integrated packages including all hardware, software and media.
It supports all available optical drives and libraries from Asaca, BDT, DISC, Hewlett-Packard, JVC, Kubota, Pioneer, Plasmon and Sony. It supports all standard RAID components, and operates in any Windows Server environment. It provides storage capacities from one-half terabyte to over 20 terabytes of data.
