Paid Content Made Easy for Weblogs

Poplish.com allows writers on the web to easily incorporate a paid-content system into their own personal websites. Easy and inexpensive, writers also keep one hundred percent of the profits made through the sale of their articles.

Osaka, Japan (PRWEB) November 16, 2003 - Poplish.com officially launched on November 9th, 2003, giving writers on the web the ability to easily incorporate a paid-content system into their own personal websites. Writers who post their articles to Poplish.com can link to those articles from their own personal website or weblog; Poplish.com then automatically tracks every sale made and places the money earned directly into the writers personal site account. The writer keeps one hundred percent of the profits; and thats what makes Poplish.com different from the many other self-publishing systems popping up on the Internet.

Call me crazy," says site creator and sole administrator, Lee Zanello, but I dont want to earn a percentage off of someone elses income. Id rather charge a small fee for the services I offer than make money off of someone elses individual success."

Registration for the site is free, and right now the first 150 users to register with the site are receiving a one dollar bonus to their accounts in order to test out the rest of the site for free. The promotional offer aside, before they can post any articles, or read articles written by others, users must usually first purchase a Poplish card for five dollars (U.S.). The site keeps one dollar for site expenses and the remaining four dollars are placed on the users Poplish card, to be used up in ten-cent increments. Purchasing a piece written by someone else costs ten cents, with the full ten cents going into that writers account. Posting an article also costs ten cents, with the money going back to the website. There are no other fees involved with the site and no percentage taken off when it comes time for a writer to cash out their earnings. Poplish card purchases and payments are handled through Paypal, although other payment arrangements can be requested on a case by case basis via email.

Its a different way to do this kind of thing," says Zanello, and the type of person I am and the origins of this site have dictated how the money side of things has to operate."

Unlike some of the competition, Poplish.com is not backed by any large company; construction of the site was completely funded by Zanello himself. By charging users a ten cent fee to post their articles and by keeping twenty percent off of every Poplish card sold, Zanello can make sure theres enough money to pay for the monthly cost of running the site. As the sites user base grows, the income generated will grow right along with it, allowing Zanello to cope with the rise in hosting and administrative costs as well.

Its designed in such a way so as to make sure that Poplish never gets too big for its britches," he says. Or my credit card."

Because it is so easy and inexpensive for writers to utilize Poplish as a paid content system for their own websites, the site also contradicts the belief that a paid content based site needs to have its own strong corporate identity in order to sell content.

We do have some feedback and quality control measures in place," Zanello says, but the main drive behind this site will be the diversity of its writing community. People will find Poplish by following the links created by writers they are already reading, writers who have already established themselves with their readers. People wont be buying into some grand notion called 'Poplish, theyll be supporting the writers theyre already enjoying."
