THE ASSOCIATION OF LANGUAGE COMPANIES JOINS FORCES TO HELP THE WAR AGAINST TERRORISM
Portland, OR -- Recent media coverage in Newsweeks October 27 Lost in Translation:
feature story, and the recent arrest of interpreters in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba has launched
language services into the national spotlight. Translating and interpreting services are a
$1.5 billion dollar industry, and an everyday part of Americas war on terrorism.
The Association of Language Companies, (the ALC), and its member companies, are joining forces with the US Government to help process and translate millions of documents and audio tapes, providing valuable information to help in the fight against terrorism. The ALC is in discussions with the National Virtual Translation Center (a government entity) to link its members with the Center. This approach would speed the process of translation, providing valuable data to those on the front lines in the war on terrorism.
The ALC is a trade organization, started to promote the interests of its member language
companies in the United States. For more information, please visit www.alcus.org, or call
800-338-4155.
