FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
UN'ETERNA TREBLINKA--the highly acclaimed book by the American historian and Holocaust educator Charles Patterson, Ph.D.--is now available in Italy.
The Roman publishing house of Editori Riuniti this spring released the Italian edition of ETERNAL TREBLINKA: Our Treatment of Animals and the Holocaust (New York: Lantern Books, 2002), which was translated by Dr. Massimo Filippi of Milano.
The book's title comes from the Yiddish writer and Nobel Laureate, Isaac Bashevis Singer, to whom the book is dedicated. He was the first major modern writer to use the Holocaust analogy to describe the way animals are exploited and slaughtered. "In relation to them," he wrote, "all people are Nazis; for animals it is an eternal Treblinka."
The national newspaper La Stampa praised UN'ETERNA TREBLINKA, telling its readers "you must read this carefully documented book."
The book has also been published in Poland (WIECZNA TREBLINKA) and in the Czech Republic (VECNA TREBLINKA).
Zweitausendeins Versand Dienst GmbH in Frankfurt am Main will publish the German edition in June 2004.
At the recent Frankfurt Book Fair the Book Publishers' Association of Israel (which serves as the largest Israeli literary agency) requested a copy of ETERNAL TREBLINKA and is now reviewing it. Publishing houses in Spain and The Netherlands are also reading the book for possible publication.
