Building Writers Homes on the Web
With only an iMac and an innovative approach to design, Los Angeles-based writer and web designer Julia Yang carves out a niche creating websites for writers. Two months after her company's launch, her designs are winning rave reviews from clients.
(PRWEB) November 19, 2003 --With only a flat-panel iMac, Los Angeles-based writer and web designer Julia Yang is building a design business that specializes in creating websites for writers who want a presence on the Web. Yang launched Studio Lacquer (http://www.studiolacquer.com) in September, 2003 with a simple mission: to provide elegant, efficient, effective, and affordable web design services for writers. She has already garnered positive reviews from clients. Erotica author and entrepreneur Landyss Kovak says that "I must tell you, the way this has turned out makes me feel very positive about working with you and most impressed by your talent for what you do. GREAT WORK. I guess I can't put it any more simply than that."
Yang says that writers' websites need a dramatically different design approach than personal and commercial websites. "Most writers' websites that I've seen were created by the writers themselves, and they tend to be pretty unattractive. Writers are writers, after all, not web designers. And writers don't need all the flashy design flourishes that make most web designers so brilliant and so expensive. A writer's website needs to be striking and memorable, but it also needs to be user-friendly, and, most importantly of all, it needs to put the writer's writing first. I'm a writer, too, so I understand that, and I developed my skills around those particular needs."
Two months later, Yang is busy with showcase websites for diverse clientele whose work ranges from intellectual erotica to Christian fiction, Regency romance to the darkest of dark fantasy and horror. She also hosts select clients' websites as part of a planned collective of promising new authors. Yang is particularly proud of her work on Behind the Veil (http://www.studiolacquer.com/clients/landyss/behindtheveil.html). The Behind the Veil website is the first stage of an ongoing collaboration between Yang and Landyss Kovak. Kovak plans to expand her uniquely intellectual erotic writing into a full-service literary erotica enterprise that will include stories written to order for private clients, script development and treatment services for the adult film industry, published collections and anthologies, gifts and adult-themed greeting cards. Yang's future work with Kovak will include design services and consulting.
Studio Lacquer's website is located at http://www.studiolacquer.com.
