About John Stobart
Born in England in 1929, John Stobart studied at the Royal Academy School in London in the 1950s. As a young man, he traveled by passenger-cargo vessel to his fathers home in southern Africa. This voyage sparked his interest in maritime subjects, which he has pursued for over fifty years.

Mr. Stobart lived in Canada for some time before settling in the United States. During a visit to New York, he met the Wunderlich family, founders and owners of Kennedy Galleries, who offered him a one-man show. Since that time, Mr. Stobarts reputation has grown internationally and he is established as one of the foremost artists of our time.
