(PRWEB) November 19, 2003 - Jeanne Owens, newly published by iUniverse, Inc., the leading provider of publishing technology solutions for authors, announces the release of her first book 'Kismet and Tell: Book One of Adventures in Sorcery.
About the Book:
The infamous mercenary sorceress Marissa Cobalt accepts the seemingly simple and quite ordinary job of finding a missing person and a lost treasure. But the job quickly turns into anything but simple and ordinary and turns her life upside down. First the solitary girl is teamed up with a handsome swordsman. Then she learns of a prophecy -- about her. Join Marissa as she tells all about this and more in Kismet and Tell: Book One of Adventures in Sorcery.
Quotes from book:
'I...Im Marissa Cobalt. My friends call me Riss. At least, they would if I had any. I have a tendency to make enemies easier than friends. Over the years Id earned a reputation that tended to make people wary of me, except in business deals, where money and necessity seemed to overcome all obstacles."
'Ok, so why would Yangul want ME dead?
'Does it matter? Youll be dead as soon as the lake dragon wakes up for dinner.
'Well, if Im going to be dead soon, why dont you tell me anyway? Consider it my last request.
'Well, if you must know, Lord Yangul doesnt want the prophecy to be fulfilled. Now shut up and die like a good girl."
'Oh, and let me thank you for disposing of Isgarand for me. That Demon was getting too powerful and greedy for its own good. It wouldnt have been long before Isgarand would have challenged me for godhood. You saved me the trouble of disposing of it myself. Now shut up and die like a good girl.
'Oh, but you see, Im not a good girl, remember? I grinned. 'Im a bad"girl. Everyone knows that."
When asked what the overall motivation was to write the book, Jeanne responded:
Kismet and Tell was originally a fun project for a creative writing class I was taking at TCC. The more I worked on it, the more the story just seemed to build, until I had a veritable book on my hands. I gave Kismet and Tell an anime feel because I wanted to do something slightly different from all of the fantasy novels Ive read. While I was working on the book, Id let some people read parts of it, and they all said that I should try to publish it. So, when I felt the book was ready, I did just that."
