Salute to Sinatra by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra comes to St. Augustine, FL
Tickets now on sale!
Florida Pops will present "A Salute to the Music of Frank Sinatra" by the Nelson Riddle Orchestra on Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Flagler College Auditorium in St. Augustine at 7:00 PM. The Nelson Riddle Orchestra is directed by Christopher Riddle and is joined by guest vocalist Ned Fassulo!
Often acknowledged as the World's Most Recorded Orchestra, the Nelson Riddle
Orchestra continues to perform to packed houses across the United States and
Europe under the direction of Nelson's son, Christopher. Over the years, the
orchestra with 15 musicians of the highest caliber have backed greats such as
Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and Linda Ronstadt. The Orchestra continues
that tradition by performing all the great Sinatra/Riddle musical arrangements in
a style true to the original Sinatra recordings. Nelson Riddle is generally
credited for reviving Sinatra's career in the 1950's with the recording of
Ive Got the World on a String" on Capitol Records. Notable future recordings
with Sinatra would include the albums Songs for Young Lovers", In the Wee
Small Hours", A Swingin Affair", and Nice n Easy" to name but a few!
Sinatra, himself, recalled those years in the liner notes of his Duets album, "In the
1950's, Nelson Riddle and I wanted to record groups of songs that set a mood. We
recorded wonderful, soulful, tender albums; as well as hot swinging ones."
This past January the show sold out at the Barbara Mann Theatre in Fort Myers,
at Ruth Eckert Hall in Clearwater, as well as, many other venues across the country.
Special guest vocalists in the past have included Harry Connick, Sr. and Walt
Andrus. In a unique evening not to be missed, the Nelson Riddle Orchestra
celebrates the songs that Sinatra made into worldwide classics, songs such as:
"Come Fly With Me", "All The Way", "Chicago", "Fly Me to The Moon", "Ive Got You Under My Skin", "New York, New York", "Strangers in the Night", "Thats Life", and many more.
The Orchestra will perform in concert on Friday, January 9, 2004 at the Flagler College Auditorium at 7:00 PM. Tickets for reserved seating are $25.00 and are now on sale.
