Old Domain Names Turn Into Holiday Gifts For Kids
Domain name charity auction to raise funds for children in need. Group is seeking unused domain names for holiday cause.
Domains For Charity, a non-profit group, is seeking unused domain names for its live internet charity auction to be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at 3PM Pacific Standard Time (2300 GMT). Instead of reselling a domain name or letting it expire, domain owners can give their names to help raise funds to buy gifts for children in need.
Buyers will be able to bid on names in real time at the DomainsForCharity.org website.
All proceeds will go to benefit The Family Giving Tree, an organization dedicated to fulfilling the Holiday wishes of kids who would otherwise go without gifts. For every $10 to $30 raised, a toy will be purchased from the actual wish list of a child and delivered to him or her in time for the holidays.
Donations of usused domain names are being sought and transfers can be arranged by contacting the volunteers on the Domains For Charity website. Donations are tax deductible.
Domains For Charity was founded by Ron James and Jason Tokoph of NamePros.Com. Mr. Tokoph noted that many domains are left to expire and are dropped or lost without benefiting anyone. He said "why not brighten the holidays for a child by donating those domains to a worthy cause."
