Pre-Configured Linux Terminal Servers from Symbio Technologies Debut

Symbio Technologies has added a complete line of pre-configured Linux terminal servers to their growing selection of Linux based thin-client products.

New Rochelle, NY (PRWEB) November 24, 2003 -- Symbio Technologies has added a complete line of pre-configured Linux terminal servers to their growing selection of Linux based thin-client products. Dubbed "The Symbiont Server Collection," the servers are Intel based, come loaded with The Symbiont Management Suite, and are available in various sizes designed to support everything from small networks to large scale institutions. The Symbiont servers offer affordable, out-of-the-box networks that can be set up simply by answering several on-screen questions.

"Even with all of the excellent open source terminal server packages on the market today, it can still be a daunting task to install and administer a thin client network," said Symbio Technologies' founder Gideon Romm. "What makes our servers unique is the configuration utility we have added to them that allows the system to work right out of the box."

"Simply plug any Symbiont server into a network switch, add your thin clients, and your network is ready to go," continued co-founder Roger Del Russo. "There is no need to purchase, install, license, or manage software for any of your workstations." Industry experts such as the Gartner Group estimate that a thin-client network can save thousands of dollars in total cost of ownership (TCO).

The Symbiont Server Collection is the latest in a number of products that Symbio Technologies is providing to the Linux thin-client community, all of which are available from their online store located at http://www.thesymbiont.com. The servers, combined with diskless workstations, offer users the power, reliability, and security of Linux-based systems at an affordable price.

The Symbiont Server Collection includes:

The Korora mini-towers and pedestals
The Humboldt 4U/Tower rackmounts
The Magellan 2U rackmounts
The Rockhopper 1U rackmounts

All of the servers come pre-configured with RedHat Linux, dozens of open source software titles, and Symbio Technologies' unique management suite guaranteeing simple, out-of-the-box installation.
