FOOD WRITING CLASS TASTE TESTS A FEAST OF TOPICS

The Nature of Writing announces the launch of Writing from the Table," a class designed to explore the meaning of food and culture in our lives.

Los Angeles, November 21, 2003 -- On Monday, December 1st. a new, ten-week class taught by essayist and restaurant critique Jena Ball will hold its first meeting online. Although the course revolves around food, much more than recipes and culinary anecdotes are involved. Food is fundamental to our beings," says Ball, both literally and figuratively. Our aesthetic and cultural tastes are expressed by what we choose to eat and how we choose to eat it. My goal in creating this class was to offer writers a place to explore both their personal relationships with food, and the larger, worldwide issues associated with feeding ourselves."

The class is broken into a series of eight themes such as, Food and Family," Food and Place," and Food and Connectivity." Each theme is explored through a combination of reading, discussion, and practical written work. Students will also receive detailed and constructive critiques of their work from Ball who see publication as one of the goals of the class.

Ball, who has been working as a freelance journalist and writing instructor for more than twenty years, has had great success with online writing classes shes offered in the past. I am absolutely amazed by this writing class. It is phenomenal. There is a lot to teach and tell about writing, and, you teach it," said one satisfied student. I had an absolutely WONDERFUL experience with this class. I feel like I have discovered a voice I never knew I had. Your guidance has been sensitive, encouraging, and tirelessly thorough," said another. Ball attributes the popularity of her classes to her own fascination with the learning process. Writers are thoughtful, creative people who are eager to learn and improve," says Ball. I really enjoy sharing ideas and helping each person evolve."

Tuition for the ten-week course is $270- per person. For a more detailed description of the course and sign-up information, visit The Nature of Writings web site at: http://www.thenatureofwriting .com.
