Lack of Reimbursement Proves to be a Dilemma for Telemedicine Services
Research and Markets have announced the addition of the 'California Telemedicine: A Reimbursement Dilemma' report to their offering.
(PRWEB) November 22, 2003 --Network administrators continue to state that lack of reimbursement for telemedicine services is a major barrier to more widespread implementation. Unfortunately, even though laws have been passed in states such as California and Oklahoma to establish reimbursement policies, third-party payment for telemedicine services is far from being a sure thing. This "problem" has received a minimal amount of coverage in conferences or the literature, but the impact is significant: No claims for reimbursement of telemedicine services had been filed in California as a result of the new law during the first year after enactment. This report is designed to explain the following issues:
Historical Perspectives: Before and After Passage of the Telemedicine Development Act of 1996
Legislation: Do Laws Have a Significant Impact on Payment or Service Provision Policies?
Operational Considerations: The Managed Care Environment and Telemedicine
Reimbursement: Medicare and Other Payment Models and Forecasts
Surveys And Interviews: An Analysis of Whats Working and Whats Not
Telemedicine Provider Profiles: Who Are Some of the Leaders?
Appendices: List of Current California Telemedicine Programs
