Unique Gift for Eco-conscious Friends and Relatives: Affordable Land Ownership That Restores Biodiversity

Environmentally aware gift givers have an appealing new option this holiday season - a one-square-meter plot of land in Queensland, Australia from an organization called Green Globe (www.green-globe.com). Amsterdam,)PRWEB) November 22, 2003 - Environmentally aware gift givers have an appealing new option this holiday season - a one-square-meter plot of land in Queensland, Australia from an organization called Green Globe (www.green-globe.com). Not only do recipients receive an official certificate of ownership, the purchase supports the reforestation of cleared woodlands in an area where biodiversity has greatly suffered in recent years.

"Australia treats its beautiful nature poorly," says Mark Pors, a Dutchman who worked for two years in Australia, saw environmental devastation and through establishing Green Globe with his friend Rob Pieterse, resolved to help restore biodiversity. "Each year more than 500,000 hectares of forest are cleared, leading to the loss of 75% of the original vegetation. This in turn has a major impact on the 320 species of birds and 65 species of mammals that inhabit the region, including Australia's incomparable kangaroos, koalas, kookaburras, and cockatoos."

By purchasing a "GreenPoint" from Green Globe for US$39.90, earth lovers from any part of the world receive a legally certified ownership certificate to a square meter of land in Queensland, Australia and the right to visit the property while not having to worry about maintenance or tax payments. Green Globe expects to begin replanting the purchased land with the original vegetation in 2004.

Besides individual purchases as gifts, Green Globe is hoping companies like KLM airlines will buy GreenPoints as holiday gifts for loyal customers or vendors, to compensate for CO2 pollution or for customer relations purposes. In future, Green Globe will purchase larger parcels of land for reforestation, first in Australia and then in other parts of the world where biodiversity is threatened.

More information on the Green Globe project and how to purchase plots of land to support biodiversity is available at www.green-globe.com .
