Moonlight releases the Worlds most advanced MPEG-2 Video Decoder -- HD Decoding (1920x1080i) including I2P conversion, on a single AMD Athlon 64 Processor

Moonlight announces the availability of its industry leading MPEG-2 Decoder -- optimized to run on AMDs 64-bit architecture.

Tel Aviv, Israel -- Moonlight is proud to announce the release of the worlds most advanced MPEG-2 Decoder -- supporting High-Definition (HD) Decoding (1920x1080i) on a single AMD Athlon 64 processor 3200+. The AMD Athlon 64 processor offers industry-leading performance on todays 32-bit software plus built-in support for 64-bit applications.
The newly released Moonlight MPEG-2 decoder optimized for AMDs 64 bit architecture is now available and includes the worlds first I2P (Interlaced to Progressive) conversion module applying Moonlights Adaptive Motion Deinterlacing Technology. Input: 1920x1080i PAL/NTSC (50/60 fields), Output: 1920x1080 progressive (50/60 frames). Moonlight's solution can even achieve 1080i decoding, without its I2P module, on a single, 32-bit-compatible AMD Athlon XP processor 2800+.
The implementation of Moonlights industry leading MPEG-2 decoders on AMDs 64-bit systems provides an excellent platform for broadcast quality editing when coupled with Moonlights highly acclaimed 720p real time MPEG-2 encoder on dual AMD Opteron processor-based architecture.
Moonlights new MPEG-2 decoder optimized for AMDs 64-bit processors provides another excellent choice for high-end video editing professionals due its support for MXF (Material eXchange Format) used in TV broadcast applications.
We are extremely pleased that the availability of Moonlights best-of-breed MPEG-2 algorithms running on AMDs mainstream 64-bit systems now enables low cost solutions for independent cinema and high end video editing solutions", says Mr. Ira Dvir, CEO of Moonlight.
Moonlight's comprehensive SDKs that facilitate integration into leading software editing platforms will create a new market for low cost independent cinema and DVD authoring solutions based on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems. With Moonlights Error Concealment algorithms incorporated in this high-end low-cost decoding solution, Moonlight supplies the enabling building blocks that also allow the leading Media-Center integrators to offer cutting-edge and robust PC-Based HDTV STBs with PVR functionality."
Soon, with the availability of drivers that support High Definition 720p MPEG-2 real time encoding, the combination of AMDs processors and Moonlights real time CODECs will allow low-cost, high-performance tools to be available to video editors and DVD authoring professionals.
