NEW YORK, Nov. 21, 2003 (PRWEB) Netpresenter releases its 'Emergency Alert' software to meet the new terrorist threats faced by organizations everywhere. It is the first commercially available software, that instantly broadcasts evacuation and other urgent messages immediately overriding employee's PCs. It is already in use at Amsterdam Airport (4th Airport of Europe) and several petrochemical companies.
The Alarm Bell goes off in your building, what would your employees do now?
Carry on with their work, as it is probably a false alarm? Look at their colleagues for inspiration? Wait for somebody or an e-mail to tell them where to go, as the potential car bomb might just be parked where you are supposed to congregate outside? Panic?
The problem is, that up to now, most organizations have only really prepared evacuation plans for fire hazards. All that has changed, with very few medium to large organizations being able to say that they have absolutely nothing to fear.
Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol), the forth-largest airport of Europe, quickly recognized this gap in their emergency communications and resolved it with the pre release version of Netpresenter Emergency Alert Server.
In an emergency, the Emergency Alert Server now allows Amsterdam Airport to instantly inform and instruct, both airport visitors and employees, with a simple mouse click.
Emergency Messages, pre- defined or new, to meet the threat or emergency, are immediately displayed on all Amsterdam Airport's employee PCs over the top of any software program they are working on. The border of the screen also pulses red to instantly grab the employees full attention. Large TV, PC and Plasma monitors in the terminals and a large video wall outside the main terminal building, keep passengers constantly informed.
How does it work: Key personnel enter messages into a simple browser interface. Planned scenarios can be set up in advance, or quickly added to meet the threat. Then with one mouse click, the Emergency broadcast hits every PC, TV or PLASMA targeted in the buildings concerned. Different messages can be targeted to meet complex requirements.
Another huge issue for security officers is training and awareness of employees. This has to be constantly repeated, as in times of terrorist threats your best defense is an employee, entering or leaving your building, seeing a car parked in a strange place, or just somebody acting strangely. Netpresenter customers use the screensaver element of the solution to remind employees of their need for constant vigilance, as it is far to easy for people to become complacent!
