TOP IAQ LAB KNOWS CALIFORNIA REQUIRES A HIGHER SET OF STANDARDS

LA Testing sets an unprecedented achievement by becoming the only laboratory in Southern California to hold all three AIHA accreditations under one facility

PASADENA, CA, November 21, 2003 - EMSL Analytical, the largest network of indoor air quality testing laboratories in the nation, announced today its S. Pasadena laboratory, LA Testing, a division of EMSL Analytical, Inc., has set an unprecedented achievement by holding accreditation for three separate AIHA programs, for asbestos (AIHA IHLAP), lead (AIHA ELLAP), and fungal analyses (AIHA EMLAP). The accreditation of the LA Testing facility also marks EMSL Analytical as the exclusive laboratory to currently operate five AIHA EMLAP Accredited laboratories throughout the Unites States. Additionally, LA Testing is accredited for asbestos PLM and TEM by NVLAP and asbestos and lead parameters by the CA ELAP.

"Achieving this benchmark is a tremendous accomplishment for LA Testing and EMSL Analytical," explains Leslie Boggs, director of marketing for the west coast divisions of EMSL Analytical, Inc. "These bodies of accreditation will focus the importance of a top-quality analysis, and will help guide the industry to requiring a higher standard of analysis."

The AIHA IHLAP [Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program] for asbestos assures clients that the laboratory has met a defined set of performance standards, including personnel qualifications, proficiency under the IHPAT [Industrial Hygiene Proficiency Analytical Testing program], facilities, quality assurance, records, analytical methods, and laboratory operation procedures (SOPs).

The AIHA ELLAP [Environmental Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program] is recognized by the EPA National Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program (NLLAP) and only accredits laboratories capable of performing adequate analysis of lead in environmental samples including paint, soil, dust wipes and air.

An AIHA EMLAP [Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation Program] accredited laboratory assures its clients that the laboratory has met a defined set of performance standards, including personnel qualifications, proficiency under the EMPAT [Environmental Microbiology Proficiency Analytical Testing program], facilities, quality assurance, records, analytical methods, and laboratory operation procedures (SOPs). Additionally, AIHA accreditation insures that the laboratory is compliant with ISO
17025 policies and procedures.
