LandVoyage.com Installs New Storage From Dell

LandVoyage.com has recently acquired and installed two new EMC network storage systems from Dell Inc. in order to increase performance and reliability

Loveland, CO (PRWEB) November 23, 2003 -- November 22, 2003. LandVoyage.com has recently acquired and installed two new EMC network storage systems from Dell Inc. in order to increase performance and reliability. The new system will be used by LandVoyage.com to store its large collection of aerial photos, satellite images and USGS topo maps. LandVoyage.com is an online service that allows member to access and download unlimited maps and imagery of anywhere in the continental United States. With the new network storage systems installed, LandVoyage.com will be faster and more reliable.

The two EMC Clariion CX400 storage systems courtesy of Dell are fiber channel raid arrays consisting of three enclosures each. The enclosures each contain 35 disks and every disk has 146 gigabytes (GB) of storage space. This is the largest amount of storage Dell has ever sold to a company with under four hundred employees.

We use Dell products in every aspect of our business," said LandVoyage.com project manager Brian Randy Funk. From laptops to desktops and from servers to storage we use synergy with Dell to get the service and performance we need.

The two new fiber channel storage systems LandVoyage.com have installed equals approximately 10,220 gigabytes (GB) or 10.2 terabytes (TB) of storage space. The average personal computer can store roughly 40-80 gigabytes (GB) of data. This is approximately enough space to store data for about 2174 DVDs containing 226 days of video; about 12775 CDs containing 102 weeks of audio; over 12,450,000 books containing 1,730,000,000,000 words.

The data stored on these new systems is fully redundant to increase reliability and reduce downtime. The new fiber channel arrays will process map data faster and LandVoyage.com users should notice an increase in performance.
