Personal Knowbase Note Management Software Uses Keywords to Control Your Notes

Bitsmith Software has released Personal Knowbase version 2.2, a free-form note management application for Windows. Personal Knowbase uses keywords to help you take control of your notes and ideas. Personal Knowbase's system of assigning keywords to notes gives you more control over how you categorize and access your notes than standard tree-based note management software does.

Pinole, California, (PRWEB) November 26, 2003 -- Bitsmith Software has released Personal Knowbase version 2.2, a free-form note management application for Windows. Personal Knowbase uses keywords to help you take control of your notes and ideas.

Many professionals today find that we are flooded with information that we can never find when we need it. Notes, messages, and reference information are scattered across our computers in various folders and applications. Paper notes clutter our desks. Ideas are scrawled on napkins. When we can no longer find the information we need, we know that we have lost control of our notes. Personal Knowbase provides a central location for computer users to organize, view, and edit their notes.

Personal Knowbase's system of assigning keywords to notes gives you more control over how you categorize and access your notes than standard tree-based note management software does. You can assign any number of keywords to each note, so notes are never forced into a single category structure as they are with tree-based systems. Instead, you can file and access notes in a natural way, by association. By linking to files, web sites, and e-mail addresses from notes, you can index any digital information with the same set of keywords.

The software's simple but powerful interface provides many ways to manipulate notes and their keywords. You can drag-and-drop text both within the application and between Personal Knowbase and other Windows applications. You can tag important notes for instant access. The new version provides one-click sorting and the ability to browse through lists of notes without opening new windows.

In response to user feedback, the new version includes enhancements to aid managing keywords. If you inadvertently create two similar keywords, you can now merge them. A new Keyword Usage Report helps find commonly used keywords and keywords that are not being used effectively.

Personal Knowbase 2.2 allows you to save keyword queries for future use. Queries find notes based on combinations of keywords, dates, and other properties using logical operators such as AND, OR, and NOT. With saved queries, you can easily re-locate sets of notes matching complex criteria.

Personal Knowbase 2.2 costs $39.95 for a single-user license and runs on Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP. Volume discounts are available. A fully functional 30-day trial of Personal Knowbase is available at http://www.bitsmithsoft.com. For more information, contact Bitsmith Software, P.O. Box 84, Pinole, CA 94564-0084, USA.
