PAULA ZAHN CELEBRATES THANKSGIVING WITH ON-AIR CELLO PERFORMANCE WITH INTERNATIONAL SEJONG SOLOISTS ON PAULA ZAHN NOW
CNN anchor Paula Zahn will ring in the holidays with a Thanksgiving cello performance on Paula Zahn Now, collaborating with International Sejong Soloists (ISS), the New York-based conductor-less string ensemble widely acclaimed for its precision, high energy and rich sound. Zahn and ISS, which performs under the artistic direction of Juilliard professor Hyo Kang, will perform Vivaldis Concerto for Two Cellos in G Minor on Thanksgiving at 8 p.m.
(PRWEB) November 27, 2003 --CNN anchor Paula Zahn will ring in the holidays with a Thanksgiving cello performance on Paula Zahn Now, collaborating with International Sejong Soloists (ISS), the New York-based conductor-less string ensemble widely acclaimed for its precision, high energy and rich sound. Zahn and ISS, which performs under the artistic direction of Juilliard professor Hyo Kang, will perform Vivaldis Concerto for Two Cellos in G Minor on Thanksgiving at 8 p.m. ISS cellist Ani Aznavoorian will join Zahn as the second soloist for the piece.
Zahn, who hosts a popular weeknight primetime evening program for CNN, is an experienced cellist, having attended college on a cello scholarship. She has performed on national television with Yo-Yo Ma and made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1992 performing with the New York Pops orchestra. She has been an ardent supporter of ISS for many years, serving as host of its annual benefit since October 2000.
ISS exciting 2003-2004 season began earlier this month with a National Public Radio (NPR) Performance Today residency. On November 9 Zahn hosted ISS annual benefit, featuring guest artists Cho-Liang Lin and David Finckel. Highlights to come include a December 7 performance at Zankel Hall; a May 6 European debut at the RNCM Manchester International Cello Festival; a U.S. tour, with collaborations with Eugenia Zuckerman and Orli Shaham; and summer residencies at the Aspen Music Festival and the Great Mountains Music Festival & School, the international music festival launching in Gangwon, South Korea in July 2004.
