October 22, 2003 -- Cambridge, MA-Louis Postel, principal of DESIGN NEW ENGLAND LLC, announces the September 2004 launch of a new shelter publication to serve the burgeoning, upscale New England residential market, titled DESIGN NEW ENGLAND. The publication will focus on trends and traditions in classic New England residential architecture, interior design, and landscape design, and will feature the work of prominent architects and designers within this region.
Mr. Postel, the award-winning former editor of Design Times, will serve as editor of DESIGN NEW ENGLAND. The new magazine will publish the work of talented New England writers and architectural photographers. Commenting on the launch, Mr. Postel said, DESIGN NEW ENGLAND will celebrate the spirit of New England tradition and innovation in design. It will be devoted to design but it will also be very much about lifestyle. DESIGN NEW ENGLAND will show the diversity of architectural and interior design styles found throughout our region -- from coastal homes on the Maine and Massachusetts shorelines to Boston brownstones, and from country manors in Southern New England to mountain retreats in the North Country. DESIGN NEW ENGLAND will be designed to serve as the ultimate resource for the finest in residential architecture and design."
DESIGN NEW ENGLAND will have a distribution of 120,000 magazines in its premiere issue: 100,000 copies will be delivered to New England homeowners with home values of $800,000 or more; 4,800 will be mailed to trade professionals -- residential architects, interior designers, and landscape designers, 4,000 copies will be distributed to leading designer showrooms in the region; and, 12,000 will be distributed via bookstores and newsstands. DESIGN NEW ENGLAND will publish one issue in 2004 and has plans to expand to a quarterly publishing schedule in 2005 or 2006.
