Torn is an emotional romance novel that depicts the love lives of three different people. Alex Tanner is a new architect that career takes off after he is assigned the project of convincing the local university to use the department in city hall to restore the library. His assignment is not a small task since the city mayor is seeking to have private contracting replace many departments within city hall. An accounting firm from her hometown of Las Vegas has set up a scholarship for which, once she earns her degree, she must work for them for the next four years to pay back the tuition.
As their relationship blooms, a third person comes into their lives to disrupt their newfound happiness. Sylvia is the niece of the mayor that is forced onto Alex once he obtains the restoration project. Alex is suspicious at first of her, imagining that she is a plant that the mayor is placing, but comes to realize that she has just as many regrets to have been forced on to him as he was to have taken her on board.

Life takes many twists and turns as Alex finds himself falling in love with both ladies. Each of the ladies has qualities that attract him. Alex has to come to terms with his love for both ladies and they have to determine if one man is really worth the trouble. The novel takes twists through paths of controversy and corruption, as they discover that their love is not the only obstacle they will encounter. Will Alex fall stay with the energetic and always cheerful Jaclyn or pursue the down-to-earth, no-nonsense ways of Sylvia? Will the two ladies want Alex after finding out that another lady is in his life? When, after all is said and done, Alex and the ladies will have to confront what is important to them as well as overcoming someone that is trying to tear down the restoration project along with any relationship.
