TRAGIC LOSS INSPIRES BENEFIT CONCERT FOR PENNSYLVANIA MUSICIAN
Benefit concert planned to aid young musician's family.
LANCASTER, PA (PRWEB) December 1, 2003 - The holidays will be just a bit brighter for a Lancaster family grieving the loss of a husband, father and friend this year. The MACBETH BENEFIT SHOW, A Celebration of the Life of Matt Macbeth In the Spirit of Local Music will take place at the renowned Chameleon Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on December 20th with all proceeds benefiting Matts young family. The concert will feature performances by more than 20 area artists all of whom are donating their time and energy to this worthy cause.
Matt Macbeth was a prominent player in the Pennsylvania music industry. His sudden death at age 32 has left a gaping void in the lives of his family and many friends in the Lancaster area.
A talented singer and guitarist, Matt started out performing with his band, the Yazoo Lizards in the early nineties. As Matts talent grew, he went on to high profile projects with the acclaimed Lancaster band Element and the acoustic group, Backdoor Victoria. Matt released three CDs with Element and was instrumental in the production and recording of a multimedia CD for Backdoor Victoria. In 2001, Matt found a new musical home with the Philadelphia based band, Clove. While with Clove, Matt spread his musical wings even farther, playing clubs from New York to Florida.
When Matt was not busy chasing down his rock 'n roll fantasy, he earned a living in the restaurant industry. Matt was a bartender and waiter at several local eating and drinking establishments in Lancaster and Harrisburg. He was a great conversationalist, with a humorous demeanor that was part Dennis Miller and part Calvin and Hobbs.
Although his accomplishments as a musician were many, Matts greatest success was the birth of his son Aaron in the spring of 2003. He leaves behind a newlywed wife of several weeks, his son and two step children.
To help the Macbeth family and celebrate the music that Matt loved so much several musicians who worked with Matt have organized the benefit concert at the Chameleon. The night will feature two floors of entertainment by such regional artists as AJ & Altercana, The Stephen Reso Band, Parallax Project, Gerald Anthony, The Jellybricks, K8 and Jared Campbell. Several local radio personalities will also be donating their time and services by hosting the event.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for ages 21 and up. A $5.00 donation at the door is requested. All proceeds will go in to the Aaron Macbeth trust Fund.
Memorial gifts may be made to a special trust fund for Matts son in care of:
