Web4healh.info – Multilingual webproject for psychology questions launched at MedNet2003 in Geneva
Lüneburg (Germany) 12/01/2003
The EU funded project web4health.info will be presented at this years world conference of medicine and internet (MedNet2003) in Geneva (4.-7.12.2003). European psychotherapists of five countries offer a free counseling service using a new natural language question answering expert system. About 25% of the internet users try to find reliable information about psychology and mental health in the internet but only a limited number of webpages meet minimal quality standards.
„The internet offers new options to reach people who suffered with mental health problems. We want to inform about existing treatment options to help and motivate to seek professional help if necessary“, Dr. Winkler said.“The use of a natural language question-answering system for medical information has not yet been offered in the internet.People can use everyday natural language without specific knowledge of psychological or medical terms to search our content.“
More than 40000 visitors per month used the English webpage in the first two months of the online service. Multilingual webpages in Italian, German, Greece and Swedish will be opened.
