Tampa News Network Launches To Rave Reviews; Site Features "Breaking News Through Your Browser."
Ground-breaking regional news portal gives viewers the ability to follow police and fire emergencies virtually in real-time through their browser window. Strong emphasis on West-Central Florida weather, sports and traffic.
Tampa, FL - After a "soft launch" that generated over 200,000 hits in just two weeks, TampaNewsNetwork.com has gone live -- much to the delight of 'news-junkies' across Florida.
The ground-breaking news portal allows visitors to the site to follow police and fire emergencies in virtually real-time through their browser.
With the aid of interactive maps, viewers know the types and number of units dispatched, the type and severity of the emergency, and can pinpoint its precise location -- all in real-time. And by clicking on the live audio feeds of police and fire department scanners incorporated within the site, many people say it's almost like being on-scene.
"The only thing missing is the smell of smoke and flashing lights...but we're working on that," jokes Tampa News Network's Managing Director, Aaron W. Mitchell.
Mitchell, whose background includes extensive experience with Tampa's 24-hour news channel, Bay News 9 and Sun Radio Network, says one of the goals in developing Tampa News Network was to provide viewers with a way to instantly find and follow breaking news as it happens.
"It's not 'breaking news' if it happens at noon but your local station waits until their five or six o'clock newscast to tell you about it...We give our viewers immediate and unfiltered news 24/7," says Mitchell.
TampaNewsNetwork.com applies this same real-time technology to their traffic reports. Using interactive maps, visitors can find out where delays are, construction bottlenecks, even the location of vehicle accidents -- all in real-time.
Of course, national and international stories, sports, entertainment and weather are also covered by TampaNewsNetwork.com.
"If you can't find it on Tampa News Network, it probably hasn't happened yet...but we're working on that, too," adds a smiling Mitchell.
Tampa News Network. Right Here, Right Now.
