On December 7th Hear the Call and Help Make It a Super Sunday with the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford!
West Hartford, Conn. -- December 1, 2003 --Who ya gonna call on Sunday, Dec. 7? Hint: Its not Ghostbusters! Hopefully, it will be mitzvah-makers.
(PRWEB) December 2, 2003 --On that date, hundreds of volunteers will make calls to the community at Super Sunday, the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartfords largest single day of fundraising and community get-together of the year.
Were expecting the biggest volunteer turnout ever," said Bradley Hoffman, 2004 Annual Campaign Chair. These may be tough times, but many of our fellow Jews are experiencing much tougher times," he said. Its important to dig deeper, to give what we can. Israel must not feel isolated - its people must know were behind them."
Locally, we cant let the elderly or families in need suffer because of the economic issues that surround us. We have to make sure theyre taken care of. It was easier when the stock market was booming, but we cant let them down."
As for the best approach for volunteers to take when they call, Hoffman said: We are asking them to put smiles in their voices and a face on issues as basic as hunger."
For those who are making a difference with their calls, Hoffman expects that Super Sunday will reaches out to as many people as possible."
However, Super Sunday is about more than raising funds, he said.
We want everyone there to feel good about what theyre doing and have a good time about helping Jews everywhere."
Every corner of the Greater Hartford community, including families with children in strollers, Jewish day school students, college students, Federations Young Adult Division, and residents of Federation Square will unite in support of the Annual Campaign. Hoffman added, Were looking forward to having multigenerational families with us again along with the teens who get so excited about making calls."
Based on local and international needs, weve set an aggressive goal of $7 million, and we are determined to meet it," explained Hoffman. Super Sunday plays a significant part in helping us meet that goal."
He added that he has received very positive feedback regarding Super Sunday: Friends and community members continue to be overwhelmingly positive about Super Sunday and being apart of something so big!"
