FINANCIAL ADVISER BEATS BT'S BROADBAND BLACK HOLE MENTALITY
Independent financial adviser, Brian Moss, has overcome BT's persistent indifference to his efforts to gain a broadband connection. His plight is similar to many who work from home and live in built up areas where broadband is available to residents on one side of the road but not the other. After seeing an article about Brian in a local paper, Realtime Computing, came up with a new solution using wireless technology.
"As an independent financial adviser, my business depends on up to date information from many sources on the Internet. All the major institutions want to work electronically and not having broadband has been a major problem for me," explained Brian. "Even when my local paper, the Bury Times, took up my story there was no joy from BT. Thankfully, Realtime saw the article."
Realtime's solution uses leading equipment imported from America. Broadband is beamed by radio link to Brian's home from a location over three kilometres away. Helping Brian Moss has been Brian Berry, broadband project manager for the Bury Business Network, he commented, "This is great news for Brian and opens real e-business opportunities for many who previously thought it impossible."
"I don't understand all the technology involved," confessed Brian, "The important thing is that it works. I can now offer my customers the level of financial advice they expect much more easily than I could before. Getting the best deal for customers be it a mortgage, pension or life insurance means being able to act fast in todays changing market."
"My advice to others running a small business in a BT broadband black hole, is don't give up, new technology means there are alternatives that work today," Brian concluded.
