Young Hollywood Wears Moss Mills Jewelry
Celebs and fashionistas have been spotted all over L.A. in the newest styles!
LOS ANGELES-You may know Moss Mills as co-owner of L.A.s red-hot mushi mushi boutique, but hes also the West Coasts hottest new jewelry designer. His handcrafted Moss Mills jewelry, which launched in Jan. 2003 and includes three distinct collections, has already been spotted around L.A. on celebs including Naomi Watts, Salma Hayek, Ashton Kutcher, Rosario Dawson, Michelle Branch, Carrie-Ann Moss, Estella Warren and Rose McGowan.
The vintage-style, sterling silver cast collection" features three-dimensional butterflies, orchids, birds, swans, chrysanthemums, roses and fawn, with standouts including a large butterfly ring with a wingspan that covers three fingers. Carmen Electra loved the collection so much she asked Moss to create custom pieces for her bridesmaids during her Nov. 2003 wedding to Dave Navarro. Each piece is inspired by vintage items Moss has collected over the years, and InStyle" magazine likened the line to Sleeping Beauty"...but with an edge. Cast pieces include pendants, chokers, rings, earrings, bracelets, leather cuffs, chokers and belts. Retail prices are $60-$250.
Celebrated designer Sue Wong hand-selected pieces from Mosss large stone collection" to adorn the models of her Spring 2004 runway show for Mercedes Benz. The large-scale necklaces and bracelets feature semi-precious stones-including colored quartz, smoky topaz, yellow topaz, agate, carnelian and amazonite-in raw and faceted forms that are cut to resemble colored ice cubes". Inspired by the pages of fashion magazines from the mid-1960s a la Edie Sedgwick, the pieces make a bold statement paired with a cocktail dress or jeans and a tee. Retail prices are $180-$320.
Necklaces and earrings from Mosss mod balls collection" beg to be touched! Delicately dangling on a sterling silver chain are perfect circles of onyx, lapis, carnelian, tourmaline, agate, colored quartz, topaz, bloodstone and mother-of-pearl. The balls" are arranged in solos, groups and colorful clusters of up to six pieces. The look is very clean and geometric, and was inspired by the mod fashion generation. Retail prices are $62-$82.
I feel inspired by an adoration of women," Moss says. I see the female form as an amazing living sculpture...the neck and collarbone alone are enough inspiration for me to create endlessly. Ultimately I seek to create a complement to that part of each woman that she secretly adores about herself, and bring attention of its beauty to the world."
