Woodbury, NY (PRWEB) December 5, 2003 --Mark S. Warshavsky, CPA, of the accounting and financial services firm, Gettry Marcus Stern & Lehrer (GMSL), CPA, P.C., with offices in Woodbury and Manhattan, NY, has successfully completed the certification process with the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA) to earn his designation of Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA). He is only the 31st person in the country to earn the CFFA designation.

Marks CFFA is the latest addition to a prominent list of letters that follow his name, indicating his resolve to remain current and provide the best service to our clients," said GMSL Managing Partner Steven Marcus. With an extensive education marked by his CPA, CVA, MBA and now, CFFA, Mark is in the forefront of his profession."

Warshavsky is partner-in-charge of the Business Valuation and Litigation Support Group at GMSL, and has earned a reputation over the course of 30 years for his ability to untangle complex financial matters. He is regularly called upon to testify as an expert witness, and continues to educate and assist professional services firms in matters of business valuation and forensic accounting. In litigation, valuations are often necessary in situations of business disruption, dissenting shareholder actions, divorce, and partner disputes. Business valuations are required during the purchase or sale of a business, succession planning, buy/sell agreements, charitable contributions, estate and gift taxes.

In his announcement, NACVA President/CEO Parnell Black noted, The CFFA is designed to provide assurance to the legal community -- the primary users of litigation consulting services -- that the designee possesses a level of experience and knowledge deemed acceptable by the Association to provide competent and professional forensic financial consulting services. The designation is an indication to the professional community that Mark Warshavsky has met the Associations rigorous standards of professionalism, expertise, objectivity, and integrity in the business valuation and litigation consulting disciplines."

The requirements to earn the CFFA include being the holder of one of NACVAs three business valuation credentials or a comparable credential such as a CPA, or advanced degree. In addition to demonstrating proof of substantial experience providing litigation consulting, CFFA applicants must also complete two weeks of intensive training offered by the NACVA Forensic Institute and pass a comprehensive examination.

To maintain his CFFA credential, Warshavsky will be required to periodically obtain continuing professional education in areas related to business valuation and/or litigation consulting, and participate in programs sponsored by NACVA that promote adherence to industry standards.

In addition to supporting litigation and professional services firms as a valuation expert, Warshavsky is also an expert source for the media, including, among others, WNYW-TV Fox 5 Good Day New York" where he made a recent appearance providing an overview on valuing assets during a divorce. He is frequently invited to speak about business valuations, fraud investigations and litigation support.
