BOSTON, MA and PITTSBURGH (PRWEB) December 5, 2003 --The works of preeminent maritime artist, the world renowned John Stobart are to be represented at the Colby Frame Company in Pittsburgh.

To celebrate representation in the Northside Manchester area of Pittsburgh, Mr. Stobart will appear in person at an open house celebrating their grand opening on Thursday, December 4, 2003, from 5 pm to 9 pm.

John Stobart stands proudly in this continuum of artists," says Peter Neill, President of the South Street Seaport Museum, New York and the International Congress of Maritime Museums. ...Johns success can be found in his commitment to place, his evocation of historic American harbors and riverfronts. New York, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Savannah, and many others large and small..."

Inspired by tradition, John Stobart serves as our historian and guide to life along the water. To the viewer, it seems as though Stobart stood a century ago along the ports and harbors he recreates for us. We can almost feel the effects of the weather and time of day and we learn about our history and our heritage through wonderfully descriptive narratives that have been compared to stories by Mark Twain and Joseph Conrad.
