MODEL'S WORKBOOK AUTHORS OFFER TWO-DAY MODELING WORKSHOP

The authors of The Model's Workbook are offering a comprehensive two-day workshop to teach aspiring models how to launch their modeling careers and how to model, pose, get an agent and manage their careers.

Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) December 5, 2003 -Many people dream of becoming models, but actually making that dream a reality can be confusing, which is why Laura Boulay and William Squire, co-authors of The Models Workbook: A Hollywood Agents Twenty Step Guide to Launching Your Modeling Career, have created their two-day intensive Model's Workshop. They will hold the first Model's Workshop at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Indian Wells, California on January 24 and 25 for aspiring models aged 16 years and up.

After receiving many letters, e-mails and positive responses to their "how-to" book, The Model's Workbook, Boulay and Squire created the Model's Workshop to provide the experiential training that cannot come from a book. The goal of the workshop is to have the students ready to begin their modeling careers at the end of the weekend, according to Boulay, who has been acting and modeling for 27 years. Most of the information in the Model's Workshop is drawn directly from the experiences of Boulay and Squire, who modeled for more than 20 years, before becoming a Hollywood talent agent and, more recently, a modeling teacher.

During the workshop, aspiring models will learn the ins and outs of the modeling industry and how to develop the tools they will need to be successful. Boulay and Squire will help workshop participants identify which "type" they are, how to pose, walk the runway, apply make-up, take care of the skin and diet and how to book jobs and organize their careers. Along with guest speakers, including fashion photographer Lynn Johnson and Vogue model Lisa Dean, Boulay and Squire will discuss how to create a portfolio and resume, how to get an agent, what agencies are looking for, and maintaining good relationships with photographers and others in the industry. They will also conduct mock auditions for TV commercial, print and runway auditions and they will advise on how to turn the auditions into bookings.

The Models Workshop will also cover what Boulay and Squire refer to as "universal tools," including self-confidence, poise, good manners, being prepared, being courteous and being on time. If this doesnt fit your image of modeling, think again. "Attitude is for the camera," Boulay and Squire say, "not for the client, photographer, make-up artist or stylists."

"Theres a reality about this industry underneath the glitz and glamour. The reality is that modeling is a business and needs to be approached as a business," according to Boulay. A mother of a teenage daughter, she hopes to prepare teens and their parents for realities of the modeling world. "Too many young people who are genuinely talented and enthusiastic get blown out of the water by very simple mistakes, like chewing gum, which you should never do at an audition!" she said. She encourages workshop participants' parents who are interested to attend the meet and greet at the end of the workshop on January 25.

The first ten people to register for the Model's Workshop will receive a $100 discount on the $1,200 workshop fee. A healthy gourmet lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments will be provided on both days of the workshop. Model's Workshop participants will receive a special room rate of $195 per night at the Miramonte Resort.
