Cookbook Press Release
Saving Cats across the Ocean through an Electronic Cookbook
(PRWEB) December 8, 2003 --Members of TheCatSite.com's Online Community publish a unique Electronic Cookbook, as a fundraiser for The Cat Welfare Society of Israel. The downloadable cookbook, named Cooking with Cattitude, is almost 150 pages long and contains hundreds of recipes, for people and for cats. It is available to anyone who makes a donation of at least $5.00. All proceeds go directly to The Cat Welfare Society of Israel, the war-torn country's only cat rescue group and sanctuary, currently facing the danger of shutting down due to lack of funds.
This E-book is the brainchild of forum members at TheCatSite.com, one of the largest cat-related websites on the net with a community of more than 5,000 registered members. As well as addressing issues related to cat care, the TCS forums are also a meeting-place for cat lovers from all over the world, where members talk about anything and everything, be it cat-related or other issues. Within the forums, recipes are often exchanged; some recipes for cats -- others for people. After sharing recipes online for several years, the idea was reached to collect all the recipes into one cookbook -- and make the cookbook by cat people and for cat people.
Around the same time, TCS members learned of the plight of The Cat Welfare Society of Israel. With the decline of the Israeli economy, brought on by ongoing terror attacks, donations to this organization have nearly stopped. With almost zero government funding, activities promoting care of feral cats, as well as spay & neuter programs, came to a near halt. The shelter and sanctuary, home to over 600 cats, faced the danger of being shut down. TCS members decided to try and help out and so the Cooking with Cattitude project was born.
TCS forum members, identified on the forums by cattish usernames, came together to collect, edit and publish hundreds of recipes. Spearheading the project was one enterprising woman who goes by the name of MomofMany on the board. Others joined in to help and one of the Forum moderators and webmaster of a cat welfare website www.savesamoa.com, known online as valanhb, put the book online converting it into an e-book format.
The effort to put it out in public view in time for the holidays has been successful and the Cooking with Cattitude e-book is available as of yesterday, December 2, 2003. Within its first day online, it has been downloaded dozens of times and brought much-needed funds into the CWSI account. Hopefully, the holiday spirit will encourage even more cat lovers worldwide to donate to this important cause and enjoy some home cooking for themselves and their favorite cats!
