Sellathon's ViewTracker now alerts eBay Sellers of Upcoming "Snipes"

Sellathon adds a feature to its popular ViewTracker service that informs eBay sellers when one of their auctions is about to be sniped.

(PRWEB) December 9, 2003 --Calling it the "Snipe Hunter", Sellathon, Inc. today announced the introduction of a new feature in its "ViewTracker" auction monitoring system that notifies eBay sellers when someone is planning a last-second bid.

These last-second bids, known as "snipes", are performed automatically by computer programs, and occur just prior to the end of an auction. The purpose of sniping is to place a bid so late in the auction that other interested parties do not have time to respond.

In addition to notifying sellers of upcoming snipes, ViewTracker informs sellers when an auction has been added to a visitor's "My eBay" page, as well as other data.

"In the past, the only thing you ever knew about the visitors to your eBay auction was how many showed up," said Sellathon CEO Wayne Yeager. "Now, our counter tells you what time they arrived, their IP address, the words they searched for to find you, which categories they searched in, how they sorted the results, their personal search preferences, whether they placed a bid or not... even the city where they live."

Sellathon users place a section of code at the end of their auction descriptions and then log in to their stats page. From there, they can monitor their auction visitor's activity in real-time.
