(PRWEB) December 9, 2003 --SOHO-iT announces its new trading name: APTIKA

SOHO-iT, a Montreal-based company specialized in the development of IT solutions, has announced a change in its trading name. As of December 1, 2003, the name will change from SOHO-iT to APTIKA. APTIKA will continue development of the popular IDpack software that allows schools, transit authorities, sporting and other organizations to economically design and produce photo ID cards, badges and nametags. The IDpack software, now available in its latest version 7.0, has been used to provide ID for employees, schools, libraries, general membership, corporate security, conventions and a range of other related needs.

Martin Bourdages, president of the renamed company, said: We think the name APTIKA is more convenient for our company because it better reflects our current activities. We feel that the brand power and simplicity of the APTIKA name allows it to be easily distinguished in the marketplace. We see it as a unifying name embodying the firms ambitions and values."

In recent years, the company has won its independence and significantly increased its addressable market and gained overall market share through its specialization strategy. The youthful organization is embarking on the next stage of its development with a new corporate identity. Martin Bourdages decided to mobilize the full extent of the firms internal resources so that this name change reflects a fresh impetus as it moves forward into a new era, four years after its foundation.

A key priority and a number of constraints influenced the choice of the firms new name. From a technical standpoint, a decision was taken to adopt a name able to gain a strategic browser ranking and we needed to avoid names that were too long or too complex. From a semantic point of view, we wanted to create a new word that would work in both French and in English and that would echo our core business: applications development. From a phonetic standpoint, the new name needed to establish itself, while reflecting the vitality of the firm. As an IT firm, our last constraint was of course to find the same domain name still available.

For the new corporate visual identity, we intended to create a symbol that maintains continuity with our range of products, namely IDpack, BIZpack and RobotPack, whose mission is very different in each case. Thats why we selected equal cubes of different colors. By the way, these colors also reflect Microsoft compatibility. Why did we choose four cubes and colors? Well, the firm is entering its fourth fiscal year and we hope its a lucky number!
