BPR Original Song Competition Passes Halfway Point

Berkeley Park Records (BPR) BPR Original Song Competition has just passed the halfway point. Sponsored by Sonicbids and Sam Ash, the competition runs until March 1, 2004. It provides an opportunity for unsigned songwriters, original solo artists and indie bands to get their music heard by top music industry professionals.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 9, 2003 --Berkeley Park Records (BPR) BPR Original Song Competition has just passed the halfway point. Sponsored by Sonicbids and Sam Ash, the competition runs until March 1, 2004. It provides an opportunity for unsigned songwriters, original solo artists and indie bands to get their music heard by top music industry professionals. Were receiving some high quality submissions from around the world however, were still looking for that number one hit," says BPR partner Diana Osberg. Its exciting to think that we may discover some of tomorrows top artists through this contest."

BPR is already in negotiation on a recording and publishing agreement with one of the artists who submitted a song. Were talking with a major distributor who is interested in including this artists work in one of their upcoming releases," says BPR founder Dave Terry. Because of the timeliness of the material, we needed to jump right on this opportunity."

The panel of judges for the competition includes such distinguished artists as: the legendary H.B. Barnum, producer/arranger/conductor for Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, Lou Rawls, The Supremes, The Jackson 5, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and many others; Mel Carter, recording artist/vocalist extraordinaire with multiple hits including "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me"; Roger Smith, recording artist/songwriter/producer and keyboard player for Tower of Power who has just finished producing albums for Tower of Power and the Average White Band; Larry Lynch, formerly the drummer and a vocalist with the Greg Kihn Band and has toured with the Rolling Stones, Peter Gabriel and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, among others; Nolan Shaheed, former music director for Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross and world class trumpet player; and Dave Terry, recording artist/songwriter/producer and founder of Berkeley Park Records.

In addition to cash and merchandise prizes, the top 10 winners will perform in the BPR Original Song Showcase in Los Angeles for an invited entertainment industry audience. The top 10 songs will be included on a compilation CD produced on the BPR label. Winners will be announced April 15, 2004.
