Break Time Presentations with PowerPoint

I recently taught an Outlook class to new users. I was somewhat amazed that so many folks made mention of my little Break Time presentation, that I set to run as the class broke and folks shuffled in and out of the classroom. This is something I learned to do after seeing it done at a Microsoft TechNet session, many years ago. Realizing how many people were apparently unfamiliar with the concept, I thought it would be good to share this idea with our readers.

PowerPoint Newsgroup

If you have questions about nearly anything, there are places on the internet where you can find answers. They're called newsgroups, and there are literally thousands of them, each devoted to a particular subject. The PowerPoint newsgroup is particularly active and well-attended by knowledgeable PowerPoint users and PowerPoint MVPs. Newsgroups are a kind of virtual "room" where anyone with a question can ask it and anyone with an answer can reply. Everyone benefits from the knowledge that others share. Learn more about this amazing concept..

PowerTalk

Surprises can add value to so many things in life. PowerTalk is one such surprise - imagine a free program that adds speech abilities to PowerPoint. SwiffRec

SwiffRec is a great free tool from the same people who provide Powerbullets, another amazing program that's also freeware. SwiffRec does just one thing - it allows you to record your voice or take an existing sound file and convert it to Flash. It's amazing how difficult this task was before SwiffRec arrived. A simple one-screen interface allows you to accomplish recording, input, conversion and output in a few minutes. Read more...

Flexible Education With PowerPoint

At the University of Tasmania, we've been using PowerPoint slideshows with hyperlink navigation as individual learning resources for students. It's been a way for lecturers to put together multimedia content using a program they're already familiar with.

Everybody has been happy with the results. The students like color pictures, video, audio and interactivity. Lecturers are glad that it is easy to create the resources. Administrators are pleased to support flexible delivery options that don't cost much.
