Quality of IM session logging, auditing, security and control of outside connections most important factors for consideration when selecting Enterprise IM solution.

Security is abviously of paramount importance in any organisation so there is little surprise that this focus group uncovered that Instant Messaging session logging and auditing, security, and connections to outside IM services are the most important features of an Enterprise Instant Messaging solution for customers. Integration of IM with unified messaging and the ability to store, retrieve, and forward IM messages were also deemed the most popular ""tie-breaker"" features when selecting between competing enterprise IM solutions.

(PRWEB) December 10, 2003 --
Research and Markets announces the addition of this report entitled "Instant Messaging in the Enterprise" to its offerings.

This report outlines the results of an online focus group, carried out to determine the critical issues surrounding Enterprise Instant Messaging. This focus group was carried out with qualified high-tech enterprise decision-makers who are responsible for evaluating, using, and purchasing information technology-related products in their organisations. Panel members include CIOs, CFOs, Network Managers, IS Managers, and COOs, representing companies of all sizes.

There was much interest among the group participants in mobile enterprise IM capabilities for sales forces, traveling executives, etc. However, few are willing to pay significant premiums for mobile capabilities. Of the ""Big 3"" IM providers, Microsoft is more likely to be associated with an enterprise-class, secure enterprise IM solution than AOL or Yahoo!. Microsofts dominance in office productivity software gives it more brand momentum in the enterprise IM space.Participants expect full IM integration with all other voice and video communications in the future and also value enterprise IM solutions that can intelligently monitor and proactively block IM sessions with outside contacts based on company policies.
