Silicon Valley Startup, OffMyServer, introduces World's smallest fully functional rackmount server.

OffMyServer announces the RS500 MicroServer, an innovative 1U rackmount server that is less than 9" deep, making it the world's smallest and fastest rackmount server in its class.

San Jose, CA December 8, 2003 -- OffMyServer opens the door to cost effective clustering by offering a revolutionary rackmount solution that is only 8.66" deep. This enables the unit to be center-mounted in relay racks or placed back-to-back in standard racks. The MicroServer reduces the total floor space required to house the necessary computing power for todays advanced computing-intensive applications and webserver clusters.

"Building clusters has never been more cost effective," comments the CTO of OffMyServer, Matt Olander. "This ingenious little unit increases space saving potential for high powered clustering while reducing implementation time."

OffMyServer offers these pre-configured cluster nodes with remote management and monitoring capabilities. The RS500 MicroServer incorporates a standard Pentium 4 server board with on-board pre-execution environment (PXE), serial console redirect, and advanced power management.

"We are consistently impressed with the creative solutions offered by OffMyServer," states Rick Reagan, Senior Solutions Engineer at Envivio, the leader in mpeg4 streaming solutions. "The MicroServer looks like exactly what we need to launch our new appliance."

The unit takes up to 2GB of RAM, has dual Intel 10/100 NICs, and is based on the Intel 845 chipset. The motherboard is a fully functional Pentium 4 and accommodates a single 32 bit PCI card.

"This powerful, flexible, and reliable server has a small footprint and is useful for a number of applications, such as a webserver, email server, clustering node, or appliance kit," says Roger Verma, President of OffMyServer.

Now in full production, the MicroServer is ready for deployment and implementation in a wide array of industries, including scientific research, Biotechnology, government agencies, and universities that require high powered computing at a reasonable cost.
